Many major banks are not offering business loans under $250,000. CAMEO is committed to increasing microlending in California by supporting our members to expand their capacity, skills, capital resources and technology adoption through the Microlending Academy.
In partnership with LiftFund, CAMEO has re-imagined the structure of underwriting. The California Microlending Online Application is a web-based underwriting platform to help lenders increase volume, expand their reach, reduce turn-around time on applications and reduce default rates.
CAMEO launched the Coaching Academy to develop new approaches to expanding business assistance training in the face of a rapidly changing landscape. The goal is to ensure that our member organizations operate with sophistication, professionalism, and efficiency while fulfilling their mission and meeting the needs of their clients.
CAMEO wants to expose and encourage as many female veterans and veterans’ spouses to business ownership and encourage their success. We’ve partnered with The Jonas Project to expand the WOVEN program into three communities in Southern California: Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego.
With the growing popularity of kitchen incubators, we saw a need to develop our Go to Market program centered around specialty foods. Our first one took place on May 28, 2014 in Watsonville. The program is designed to provide first class training in rural areas that otherwise wouldn’t have access to the information. Since 2014, we’ve held another Go to Market in Chico and will hold one in Fresno in 2017. We’re delighted to announce that our Go-To-Market program has expanded from specialty foods to the crafts with a promotion of the Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship program.
Members are encouraged and supported to initiate and build relationships with their local Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) to serve California’s unemployed entrepreneurs.

CAMEO further supports capacity building by offering individualized training contracts training contracts to member organizations to support their respective needs for further training and leadership development of their staff.
CAMEO works with members on a short-term basis to address a specific issue or help launch a larger effort.
